Kendo called Japanese fencing. The term consists of two components - Ken (sword) and do (way) - and you attribute as the street / the path of the sword. The kendo has no founder nor are there different styles as in other martial arts. Kendo is the current transformation of educational practices developed by samurai from 1800 onwards in order to be able to train safely. Today kendo as sports and martial art. It is very technical sport and the unique at martial arts that has no weight limit neither age limit. The kendo is a secure martial art since the protective equipment (bogu) provide the necessary protection having the only advantage to have full contact with the opponent using the sword of bamboo (Shinai) during training (keiko) and the races ( Shiai).

Kendo, as practiced today, was developed about 200 years ago, when the "shinai" (bamboo sword) was devised to allow the safe and free practice of this ancient military art. During the 16th century, when the whole period in Japan were successive civil wars, the techniques of the sword as an object of study, treated as a matter of life and death. The warriors were trained to handle the sword as if it were an extension of their hands. Wooden swords were used more often to study and practice. Finally, for the handling of the sword selected number of basic forms, which evolved in the fundamental forms of Kendo, called «kata».
